Michael "Mike" Andrew Costilla Sr.
Michael "Mike" Costilla Sr. passed away in the early hours of June 25, 2023, in his hometown of
Laredo, TX at Doctors Hospital of Laredo. His battle with cancer in recent years wasn't the
easiest, however, if you know Mike you know that he was a tough cookie and fought hard.
Despite being confined to a wheelchair and having to deal so much pain, he still managed to stay
strong and showed up no matter what.
Mike had a love for electronics and communications. He held a Federal Communications
Technician (FCC) license which allowed him to be a first responder. He really loved his Ham
radios and took pride in being involved in the electronics and communications community.
He is preceded in death by his father Javier Angel Costilla Sr., this paternal grandparents Santos
Costilla & Juanita Costilla, his maternal grandparents Nicholas Camacho & Mildred Camacho-
Lamb, his brothers Javier Angel Costilla Jr. & Richard Mathew Costilla.
He is survived by his mother Lucinda S. Camacho; his common-law wife Ana T. Recio; his
brothers John A. Costilla, Christopher N. Costilla, Robert L. Camacho; his children Nicole A.
Rubio (Kevin), Michael A. Costilla Jr. (Christina), Mark A. Costilla (Haley), Krystal M. Costilla,
Stefani L. Costilla (Hugo), Abigail J. Costilla, Destiny A. Costilla; and his grandchildren
Makayla A. Costilla, Ethan J. Garcia, Mark A. Costilla Jr., Emma C. Rubio, Kaylee E. Costilla,
Maya A. Costilla, Ximena A. Mariscal, Matthew A. Costilla, Mateo A. Mariscal, and Ella M.
Rubio.
Also surviving are his many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Funeral Chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave. A Religious Service officiated by Senior Pastor Rosa Hernandez Gonzalez will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Funeral procession will immediately follow the service at 11:30 a.m. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Funeral Chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave.
