NICOLAS VELASQUEZ Nicolas Velasquez, 57, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at a local hospital. Mr. Velasquez was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a life long resident. He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Consuelo Velasquez. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Alicia Velasquez. Children, Veronica Velasquez, Yvonne ( Teofilo) Guevara, III. and Nicolas ( Joana) Velasquez Jr. Grandchildren, Deandra Guevara, Kaitlyn Guevara, Javier Cerda, Jr. and Issacc Guevara. Brothers, Antonio Velasquez Jr., Jose (Olivia) Velasquez and Ignacio Velasquez. Sisters, Gloria Imelda Castillo, Rosa Elia ( Gerardo) Varela and Maria Lourdes Velasquez. Also surviving him are numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston and San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services will be held at a later date.
