Obituary

OLGA S. HERRERA Olga S. Herrera, 81, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at a local hospital surrounded by her family. Mrs. Herrera was born and raised in Laredo , Texas. She had been employed with the Texas Department of Human Resources child protective services which is now CPS as an investigative case aid worker for over 18 years. Later on she had been employed with the Texas Migrant Council for a number of years and also where she had met her late husband. She then retired from the Texas Migrant Council. Both her and her husband went on to start their own business together " Herrera and Sons". The managed and sold Fire equipment and supplies for over 32 years . She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years of marrage Oscar Herrera who passed away on February 8, 2013, by her son Rolando Herrera, by her parents Jose C. Sanchez and Maria Rodriguez Sanchez, by her sisters Regina Amelia Arechiga, Aurora Castillo and Herlinda Guerra and by her brothers Juan Arechiga and Narciso Arechiga. She is survived by her daughter: Cynthia (Mari Carmen Gonzalez) Herrera. By her sons: Oscar (Maria De Jesus) Herrera Jr., Jose Hector (Maria) Herrera, Romero Herrera, Edumundo (Adelfa) Herrera. Her grandchildren: Oscar Herrera III, Jessica (Monica) Herrera, Melissa (Omar Jesus) Garza, Delilah (Rich) Weinert, Rachel Ann (Bryan) Nance, Jose Armando (Laura) Herrera, Deborah (Jesus) Alonzo, Romero Herrera Jr., Robert (Laliz) Herrera, Rolando (Laura) Herrera Jr., Ruby (Tyrone) Harris, Ricardo Herrera, Ryan Herrera, Edmundo Noe (Crystal) Herrera Jr., San Juanita (Olvin) Polanco, Noe (Myra) Herrera, Julie Herrera, Cynthia Jeanette (Rogelio) Herrera-Padilla, Flor Amparo Figeroa, Johann (Vanessa) Villarreal and Jessie Villarreal. Also surviving her are numerous great-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and many friends. The family of Olga S. Herrera would like to express their deep appreciation to those who have offered such kindness, support and message of sympathy and comfort in their bereavement , especially The Laredo Fire department, Fire Chief Steve Landin, Constable Harold Devally Pct. 4 and staff, Constable Rudy Rodriguez Pct. 1 and staff, Council man Esteban Rangel Pct. 2 United Independent School District, District Transportation, Department North and South, Doctors Hospital ICU and 3rd Floor Staff, Charge Nurse Rosa Rodriguez, Dr. Marissa Gonzalez, Dr. Mateo Reyes and Staff, Torres Home Health and Friendly Care Home Health Services. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will immediately follow the service in the Laredo City Cemetery.
