Obituary

OSCAR HERRERA Oscar Herrera, 81, passed away on Friday, February 08, 2013 at a local hospital. Mr. Herrera was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. He had been employed with the Laredo Fire Department for over 32 years of service and reached the rank of Captain. He also maintained his own business of Fire Equipment and supplies known as "Herrera and Sons" for 32 years. When he officially retired from the fire department he became a bus driver for United I.S.D. and then for Webb County Headstart, up until his retirement from the Texas Migrant Council. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noe and Juanita Herrera, by his son, Rolando Herrera, by his sister, Lucy Chapa and brothers, Edmundo Noe Herrera and Nino Herrera. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years of marriage, Olga S. Herrera. By his Daughter and Sons, Cynthia (Mari Carmen Gonzalez) Herrera, Oscar (Maria De Jesus) Herrera Jr., Jose Hector (Maria) Herrera, Romeo Herrera and Edmundo (Adelfa) Herrera. Daughter-in-Law, Raquel Herrera. Grandchildren, Oscar Herrera III, Jessica (Monica) Herrera, Melissa (Omar Jesus) Garza, Delilah (Rich) Weinert, Rachel Ann (Bryan) Nance, Jose Armando (Laura) Herrera, Deborah (Jesus) Alonzo, Romero Herrera Jr., Robert (Laliz) Herrera, Rolando (Laura) Herrera Jr., Ruby (Tyrone) Harris, Ricardo Herrera, Ryan Herrera, Edmundo Noe (Crystal) Herrera Jr., San Juanita (Olvin) Polanco, Noe (Myra) Herrera, Julie Herrera, Cynthia Jeanette (Rogelio) Herrera-Padilla, Flor Amparo Figeroa, Johann (Vanessa) Villarreal and Jessie Villarreal. Also surviving him are numerous great-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. His brothers and sisters, Pedro (Elena) Garcia, Rene (Gloria) Herrera, Liliana Herrera and Maria (Luis) Lopez. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and many, many friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held in the Hernandez,Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Laredo City Cemetery.
