OSCAR O. SALINAS So when my last breath Shall rend the veil in twain By death I shall escape from death Had life eternal gain. Oscar O. Salinas, loving husband, father, brother, son and grandfather went to be with our Lord on December 21, 2013 at the age of 74. He was born in Hebbronville, Texas on August 18, 1939 to Jose M. Salinas and Rosa B. Salinas. Oscar enjoyed being around his family and absolutely spoiling his grandchildren. Oscar better known by his nickname, "El Borrego", was a happy-go- lucky person. He enjoyed his "coffee breaks" with his friends. He was friendly, happy, always of good cheer, fun to be with. He was an excellent athlete and enjoyed watching football and basketball games whenever he could. His friends knew him as a good man always at the service of the Lord. He was kind to his neighbor, a devoted husband and father, a good friend, and especially a great grandfather. After graduating from Raymond & Tirza Martin High School, he attended LJC "LCC" and Southwest Texas University. He was a meat broker until his retirement in the 80's. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, Jose M. Salinas and Rosa B. Salinas as well as his sisters, Alma Gloria, Raquel Rosa and Maria Del Carmen Salinas. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years of marriage, Alicia Veronica Salinas; his children, Oscar O. (Karrie) Salinas, II., Marco Antonio Salinas, Veronica Erica (Jay) Salinas-Reese and Sean Carlo (Lara) Salinas; grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Marissa A. Salinas, Max E. Salinas, Twins: Samantha R. Salinas, Sean C. Salinas, II., Twins: Hunter V. Reese and Landon O. Reese. Also surviving him is his brother, Jose R. "Pepe" (Laura) Salinas as well as his dear aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be dearly missed by his family. "Faith builds a bridge across the gulf of death." Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez & Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Church. Committal services will be held at a later date.
