PEARL GONZALEZ LEIJA APRIL 11, 1953 - JUNE 6, 2013 Pearl G. Leija, 60, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013 in Laredo, Texas surrouned by her family It is with a very heavy heart that we all had to say goodbye to our precious and dearly beloved, Pearl. She was a very courageous warrior throughout her battle with cancer but apparently God had a better plan for her. We will continue to keep Pearl in our daily lives, memories and prayers as she always kept all of us in hers. We all love and miss you tons, Pearl...? Mrs. Leija was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a life long resident. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nieves and Pearl Gonzalez. Father-in-Law, Cayetano Leija. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years of marriage, Mario A. Leija. Children, Mario A. (Priscilla) Leija Jr., Joseph John Leija and Adriana Luna, Michael A. (Valerie) Leija and Patricia A. Leija. 5 grandchildren, Priscilla Leija, Abigail Leija, Amanda Leija, Michael Leija Jr. and Madison Leija. Siblings, Nieves (Nora) Gonzalez III, Mamie (Ernesto Sr.) Gutierrez, Doris (Robert, dec'd) Guerra, Joseph (Monica) Gonzalez, Josie (Todd) Utz and Rebecca "Becky" Gonzalez. Mother-in-Law, Graciela Leija. Brothers and Sisters-in-Law, Guadalupe (Leo, dec'd) Flores, Maricela Perez, Cayetano Leija Jr., Adriana (Oscar) Mena and Jaime (Ramona) Leija. Also surviving her are nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. PALLBEARERS WERE: Joseph Leija, Michael Leija, Ernie Gutierrez, Jason Gonzalez, Ruben Perez Jr., Roberto Benavidez, David Leija and Jaime Leija. Honorary Pallbearers were: Mario Leija Jr., Nieves Gonzalez III, Joseph Gonzalez, Nieves Gonzalez IV, David Gutierrez, Marcos Gutierrez, Michael Leija Jr., Rolando Flores, Ricardo Perez and Vicente Roberto Espinoza.
