PETRA "PETRITA" Y. MARTINEZ Petra Y. Martinez or "Petrita as she was affectionetly known to her family and dear friends passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the age of 88. Petrita was born and raised in Laredo. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Pedro Martinez. by her brothers, Jose Maria Yruegas, Victor Yruegas and by her mother, Juliana Yruegas. She is survived by her children, Israel (Belinda) Martinez, Noel (Elvia) Martinez, Ismael (Blanca) Martinez, Marta Martinez, Melva Morales and Leonel (Gloria) Martinez. 12 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren. Sisters, Dominga Yruegas, Antonia Soliz, Isabel Hernandez and Alicia Hernandez and her brother, Simon Yruegas. Also surviving her are numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
