PORFIRIO BERNAL JR.
Porfirio Bernal Jr., 86, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017.
"Pilo", as he was known to many, worked for Union Pacific and Missouri Railroads for 40 years. He was a volunteer for the Laredo Children's Museum. He had coached for the baseball city leagues. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and grandchildren. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Porfirio Bernal Sr. and Maria Suarez Bernal; brothers, Rodolfo Bernal, Gilberto Bernal and Felix Bernal.
He is survived by his wife, Beatriz R. Bernal, of 66 years of marriage; sons, Porfirio G. (Leticia C.) Bernal, Arturo (Nelda S.) Bernal and Eduardo (Lucy A.) Bernal.
Daughters, Pat B. Flores, Berta (Hilario) Dimas and Alicia (Rudy) Tijerina.
17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Sisters, Delfina Bernal Flores and Sylvia Bernal Ochoa.
Brother, Andres (Mari T.) Bernal.
Also surviving him are nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Mr. Bernal's family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Dr. Idelfonso Flores, Dr. Leo Cigarroa, CIMA Hospice Services, Aixa Riojas and the Staff at LMC.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the
Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at San Francisco Javier Catholic Church. Committal services will be held on a later date.
