Quintin Vargas was a lifelong resident of his beloved Laredo, Texas. Orphaned at the age of eleven, he proceeded to take care of his widowed mother, Eliza and younger brother Rosendo. As a young man he worked at the Hamilton Hotel, where he became Assistant Manager. He then worked at the Union National Bank, where he learned his accounting skills. President Lyndon Johnson's War on Poverty recruited Mr. Vargas to become its first Senior Accountant in Laredo. After decades with the Community Action Agency, Mr. Vargas launched into a new career as a life insurance agent for Jefferson Pilot Insurance Agency. He retired as a Diamond Level producer for the nationwide firm.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esperanza Vargas.
He is survived by his brother, Rosendo Vargas (Rosa).
Son, Dr. Quintin Vargas III (Marty).
5 grandchildren, Quintin Vargas IV (Rebeca), Ina Larisa Brown, Gabriela Angelica Main (Stephen), Jessica L. Mock (Jeff) and Jay M. Simon (Ashlie).
He also had 13 great grandchildren.
Also his niece, Imelda Vargas and grand niece, Leticia Leggett (Jon) and grand nephew, Alejandro Gonzalez.
