Rafael Juarez, Jr, 87, entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 24, 2021, surrounded by his family, after fighting a long battle with cancer.  He was born in Laredo and was a life-long resident of Laredo except for temporary assignments. After his graduation from Martin High School, he joined the Army and served two years in Germany during the occupation from 1954 through 1956.  After his service he came home and worked for US Life Credit Corporation as a local manager and later, as a district supervisor of seven southwest Texas offices; then in 1984 he joined Union National Bank as supervisor of the Installment Loan Collection Department. The bank eventually became Wells Fargo Bank, where he served in various capacities for over 21 years until his retirement in 2005.

Rafael loved hunting in Zapata and had many friends there when he was younger.  He loved music and had a song for every occasion.  He played the piano, guitar, accordion and at 80 years old, started playing the violin. He would make friends of complete strangers while waiting in line to be served or to get a ticket, and would help them if needed.

During all these years, starting at a very young age, he was very active with the Knights of Columbus, serving in various offices, including as Grand Knight twice.  He attained the rank of 4 th degree Grand Knight of KC Council 2304.

Rafael is preceded in death by his parents, Rafael Juarez, Sr., and Eloisa Trevino Juarez; his sisters, Emma Juarez and Antonia (Jimmy) Perales; plus uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty-three years, Ninfa Tamez Juarez, his children Rafael Juarez III (Imelda) of El Paso, Texas; Ruben Juarez (Pablo) of Marietta, Georgia; Cristina J. Galindo, of Denton, Texas; Melissa Juarez, of Austin, Texas; Rebecca Kennard (Jeremy), of Leander, Texas; and Rogelio G.
