RAMONA "MONA" LUCIO
Ramona"Mona" Lucio, 81, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017, at a local hospital.
Mrs. Lucio was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a life long resident.
Mona, as she was affectionately known by everyone, was owner of Mona's Flower Shop, for 35 years, where her joyful and generous personality was even more beautiful than the flowers she so loved. Everyone that came in contact with her made a friend for life. Her beautiful smile was very contagious. Her love of God was her number one priority and apparent in everything she did especially in her family. She always saw the good in people and life and never turned her back on anyone. She was a member of the Guadalupanas of Sagrado Corazon, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Martin High School Class of '55, the "Counting Team" of San Luis Rey, she was also active with the H.E.B. Amigos Retirement Club with her husband for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gonzalo Cantu and Inez Zamora Alcorta.
Daughter, Yolanda "Yoli" Hernandez.
Brother, Hector Alcorta.
She is survived by her loving husband, of 60 years of marriage, Paulino Lucio Jr.
Sons, Juan Gerardo (Leticia) Lucio and Paulino (Yvonne) Lucio III.
Grandchildren, Paulino Lucio IV, Javier Hernandez II, Joaquin A. Lucio and Joel Hernandez.
Great-granddaughter, Aubrey Hernandez.
Son-in-Law, Javier Hernandez.
Brothers, Juan Roberto (Beatriz) Riojas, Ignacio (Maria Luisa) Alcorta Jr. and Arturo Armando (Sarita) Alcorta.
Sister, Guillermina (Luis Humberto) Romero.
Also surviving her are other relatives and many friends.
Mrs. Lucio's family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Milton Haber, Laredo Medical Center 2nd Floor Unit, Laredo Nursing and Rehab, Doctors Hospital of Laredo ICU, San Luis Rey Church Staff, her best friend of over 50 years Mrs. Socorro Garza, and friends and family for all their prayers.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 5 p.m. and at 7 p.m. in the
Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.
Funeral services will begin at 8:05 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow in the Laredo City Cemetery-Veteran's Section.
