REBECCA MORALES CANTU
Rebecca Morales Cantu, 94, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016 in the presence of her children at home.
Mrs. Cantu was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a lifelong resident.
"Cantu" as she was affectionately called by her friends and "Mamo" by her grandchildren instilled in her family love an respect to god and others.
After becoming a widow she served her community and her church Blessed Sacrament as a CCD volunteer for 20 years. She also attended Meadow Acres Adult Center where she made sure that all who attended were treated with respect and love.
She always believed in God, prayed the rosary and is finally able to rest in God Heavenly Home where she will be received with open arms.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Guadalupe "Lupe" T. Cantu.
Brothers, Juan Francisco "Pancho" Morales and Amador Morales.
Sisters, Alicia "Licha" (Noe) Gonzalez and Josefina "Nena" Morales Duncan (Alfredo).
She is survived by her son, Juan Jesus "J.J" Cantu (Alicia).
Daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Gonzalez.
6 grandchildren, Jesus C. "J.C." Gonzalez, Jr., Maria Elena "Mary" Gonzalez, Michael Gonzalez, James Edward Gonzalez, Roxanne Cantu (Matt) Lee and Kimberly Cantu Acuña (Danny).
3 great-grandchildren, Kristy Elvira Gonzalez, Jasmin Gonzalez and James Edward Gonzalez Jr.
Sister-in-law, Carmen Santos Morales.
Son-in-law, Jesus C. Gonzalez Sr.
Also surviving her are numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
The Cantu and Gonzalez families would like to express their utmost gratitude to her caregivers, Maria Morales and Susie Macias. Dr. Jesus Pineda, Dr. Carlos Casas and Dr. Fermin Romero. Best Home Health Care, Torres Home Health Care, Nurses on Wheels and Father Hector Flores, To everyone "Mil Gracias" Thank You for the Love and respect you gave "Mom".
In Lieu of flowers family request donations to be made to the families for Autism support and Awareness, P. O. Box 440851 Laredo, Texas 78044, or any charity or masses on memory of Rebecca Morales Cantu.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the
Hernandez-Lopez and Sons East Chapel, 4500 Thomas Ave.
Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
