Reva Dana Sears
May 11, 1951 – October 30, 2026
Reva Dana Sears, 75, of Laredo, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 30, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones in San Antonio, Texas, after a battle with multiple illnesses.
Born in Odessa, Texas, on May 11, 1951 to Dan and Vonnie Flournoy, Reva graduated from Permian High School in 1969. She then graduated from Odessa College in 1971, and graduated magma cum laude from Texas Tech University in 1973. She received her Master's in Education from University of North Carolina, and her chaplaincy at Grand Canyon University. While attending Odessa College, she met the love of her life Steve Sears. They married on August 17, 1973, and they shared 53 beautiful years together. She devoted her life to raising her family, teaching, chaplaincy, and volunteer work.
A faithful member of First Baptist Church in Laredo, Texas, she taught Bible Study for multiple women's groups in almost every church she has attended. She also loved decorating her home and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her favorite holiday was Christmas because it allowed her to display her and Steve's vast collection of nutcrackers all over her home to delight guests as she created a joyful home for multiple family celebrations each year.
The precious memories of her warm sense of humor, her generosity (except while playing Monopoly and Uno games), and her deep faith will carry all of us forward through this difficult time. In honor of her, we remember her favorite scripture verse:
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” -Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026. Religious service will be held at First Baptist Church, 7610 Bartlett, Laredo, Texas at 10 a.m. Committal services and interment will be held in Odessa, Texas.
