RICARDO T. SERNA Ricardo T. Serna, 81, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at a local hospital. Mr. Serna was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. Mr. Serna enlisted in the United States Navy from March 1951 to March 1955. He was an office clerk for 12 years with the Laredo Housing Authority, also an admitting clerk at Mercy Hospital of Laredo for 14 years and admitting clerk for 15 years at Doctors Hospital of Laredo. Mr. Serna enjoyed all sports but his favorite sport was boxing. He is preceded in death by his son, Ricardo Rafael "Ricky" Serna. Brothers and Sister, Arturo Serna, Ildefonso Serna, Jr., Jose Serna, and Teresa Rangel. Parents, Ildefonso and Adelfa Serna. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years of marriage, Lilia Velasquez Serna. Daughters, Leticia Lilia Serna Salinas and Arlene Adele Serna Fuentes. 6 grandchildren, Kassandra Marie Serna and Enrique Ruiz III, Ricky Salinas and Lilly A. Torres, Mark Anthony (Cynthia) Salinas, Juan Carlos Salinas, Julio Rafael Fuentes and Rebecca Arlene Fuentes. 4 great-grandchildren, Eunice Yvette Ruiz, Eileen Yvonne Ruiz, Lia Nicole Salinas and Keyla Rodriguez. Brothers and Sisters, Fernando (Amada, dec'd) Serna, Maria (Eugene) Mayer, Lucia Pena, and Adelfa Serna. Sisters-in-Law, Paulita Serna and Margarita Serna. Brother-in-Law, Antonio Rangel. Also surviving him are nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2013 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
