ROBERTO "CHAFITAS KID" DELUNA Roberto "Chafitas Kid" DeLuna, 60, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in Laredo, Texas. Mr. DeLuna was born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas Mexico and had been a life long resident of Laredo, Texas. He worked as an assistant construction cordinator with the Webb County Self Help Center for over 18 years, then retired to continue as a self employed carpenter which he enjoyed for all of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Cecilia DeLuna. Brother, Jose Luis DeLuna. Brother-in-Law, Brigido Gonzalez and Arturo Elizondo. Nephew, Juan C. Elizondo. He is survived by his spouse, Guadalupe DeLuna. Children, Elizabeth "Nani" DeLuna, Erica (Osiel Gutierrez) DeLuna, Alma Nora DeLuna and Juan Eduardo Junior DeLuna. Sisters, Juanita Gonzalez and Maria Del Refugio Elizondo. Brothers, Cecilio (Guadalupe) DeLuna and Juventino (Araceli) DeLuna. Also surviving him are numerous other relatives and many friends. A special heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Alex Blanco and his staff for all the care and attention given to Mr. DeLuna. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:05 a.m.on Saturday, May 3, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
