Obituary

ROBERTO J. PALACIOS

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roberto J. Palacios, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

Roberto passed away on November 15, 2024, at the age of 77, surrounded by his family. Mr. Palacios was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War between 1968 and 1969. He was employed at the Corpus Christi Army Depot for over 30 years. Mr. Palacios was also member of the Laredo Fire Department, from 1977 to 1987. He will be dearly missed.


Roberto was born on August 8, 1947, in Laredo, Texas, and grew up with a deep sense of duty and service to others. After graduating high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. His military service was a testament to his strength, courage, and dedication, and he earned the rank of sergeant.


After returning home from Vietnam, Roberto transitioned into a career as a firefighter, where he spent 10 years protecting his community. His selflessness and quick response in times of crisis earned him the respect and admiration of all who worked alongside him. He later retired from a distinguished career at the Corpus Christi Army Depot, where his expertise and leadership were greatly valued by his colleagues.


Roberto's life was defined by his love for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rosario, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Together, they raised two children, who were the pride of his life: Hector and Cristina. He also leaves behind a precious grandchild, Gael, who brought him great joy in his later years. Roberto's family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Maria L. Palacios.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 51 years of marriage, Rosario M. Palacios.
Children, Hector X. (Holly Cowieson) Palacios, Cristina (George S. De La Cerda) Palacios De La Cerda.
Grandson, Gael Palacios De La Cerda.
Siblings, Jesus D. (Teresa) Palacios, Evaristo (Maria De La Luz) Palacios Sr. and Dolores M. (Heriberto) Carrillo.
Cousin, Alfonso Palacios Sr.
Also surviving him are Brothers and Sisters-In-Law, Nephews, Nieces, other Cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, November 22, 2024 departing from the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Holy Mass was celebrated at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services and interment  followed at the Laredo City Cemetery.
PALLBEARERS WERE: Hector Palacios, George De La Cerda, Jesus Palacios Jr., Daniel Carrillo, Alex Carrillo and Joshua Ortiz.
