ROBERTO ELOI RODRIGUEZ
Roberto Eloi "Pop" Rodriguez, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Eloi was born in Laredo, Texas, on September 22, 1940, to Santana T. Rodriguez and Amalia A. Castro. He was a lifelong resident.
Eloi graduated from Martin High School, in 1958, and joined the United States Army, where he served, honorably, for four years. He was stationed in Orleans, France and frequently traveled to Spain.
After his service, Eloi returned to Laredo and later became the Director of Buildings and Grounds at Laredo Jr. College. After 25 years, he retired from the Laredo Community College.
During his retirement, he enjoyed spending his time traveling to visit family. He loved playing golf, hunting, watching his novelas, but most of all, he loved to be around his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Rodriguez will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Eloi is preceded in death by his parents, Santana T. Rodriguez and Amalia A. Castro.
His beloved wife, Elena.
Brother, Jesus (Chuy) Rodriguez.
He is survived by his sons, Robert (Cyndi), Rene (Claudia), Rolando (Michelle), Gabriel (Carol).
Ten grandchildren; Jazlyn, Jaremy, Alexis, Alyssa, Rebecca, Rolando Jr. (RJ), Reese, Andrew, Richard, and Sophia.
Sisters, Lily Garcia and Rosa (Mario) Maldonado.
Brother, Alfonso (Poncho) Rodriguez
Also surviving him are countless nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 4 p.m to 9 p.m and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the
Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston ST. on San Bernardo Ave.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal Services and interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
