Rolando Aaron
Moreno Jr.
July 13, 2025
ROLANDO AARON MORENO JR.
In Loving Memory of Rolando Aaron Moreno, Jr.
Age 26
From Laredo, Texas
Born on August 4, 1998
Entered Eternal Rest on July 13, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at University Hospital in San Antonio.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Rolando Aaron Moreno, Jr., who was
born on August 4, 1998, in Laredo, Texas. He was a proud graduate of Lyndon B. Johnson High School, Class
of 2016, where he completed the Distinguished Academic Program. Shortly after graduating, he answered the
call to serve his country and proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served four honorable years.
His guiding motto was "service before self."
Rolando's passion for military service began at the young age of five during a visit to Fort Hood. A year later,
at age six, he discovered a new love-boxing. This passion for combat sports grew as he began training in
Mixed Martial Arts, starting with Jiu-Jitsu under Edgardo C. Venegas at age nine. By 11, he had earned the
title of Youth State Champion at the NAGA Texas State Championship. At 13, Rolando joined Laredo
Kickboxing Academy (LKA) under the mentorship of Sonny Luque, continuing to hone his discipline and
technique. At 17, he won his first amateur MMA match-one of many proud milestones in his journey.
Rolando was not only a fighter in the ring, but also a dedicated protector of his country and community.
Fellow Marines shared:
"We lost one of our own. Cpl. Moreno wasn't just an NCO-he was a quiet professional, a steady presence, and
someone who made an undeniable impact on everyone around him. His character spoke louder than any words
ever could: respectful, reliable, and full of heart. He embodied what it meant to wear this uniform with pride.
Moreno carried himself with humility, strength, and a deep sense of purpose. He showed up for his team, for
the mission, and for the Corps. His loss is deeply felt across this unit, and his memory will stay with us always."
He left us far too soon, but his legacy will live on-in the stories we share, in the lives he touched, and in how
we continue to honor his name. Till Valhalla, Moreno. Semper Fi.
At the time of his passing, Rolando was pursuing a course in Welding at Southern Careers Institute in Austin,
Texas. He was deeply inspired by his mentor Mr. Heriberto Herrera, and built strong connections with his
instructor Mr. Jon Labruzza and classmates, who were devastated to hear of his passing. Rolando left a lasting
impact wherever he went.
Above all, Rolando was a headstrong and protective big brother, a loyal friend, and a man of quiet simplicity
and deep dedication. He cherished peaceful mornings with family over coffee and loved his inner circle deeply
and unconditionally. He is now reunited with our Lord in paradise, watching over us all.
He is preceded in death by his father, Rolando Moreno; maternal grandparents, Raul and Rosa Garcia; uncles
Raul Garcia Jr. and Javier Mancha; and paternal grandfather Guadalupe Moreno Sr.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving mother, Cynthia Garcia; devoted father, Claudio M. (Pavis)
Martinez; and caring sister, Carla Moreno. He is also survived by numerous close relatives, loyal friends, and
his brothers and sisters in arms.
