Obituary

ROQUE J. MARTINEZ

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

Roque J. Martinez, 82, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 in Laredo, Texas.

Mr. Martinez was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a lifelong resident. Prior to his retirement after 46 years of service, Mr. Martinez served as a maintenance director with the Family Gardens Inn in Laredo, Texas. He will be remembered and dearly  missed by his family who loved him very much.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Diego and Margarita Martinez.
Brother, Rodolfo Martinez.
Sisters, Herminia Dovalina, Elida Lopez, Margarita Torres and Penny Martinez.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 57 years of marriage, Amelia Martinez.
Children, Miguel Martinez, Alma Barrera and Jaime (Melissa Charo) Martinez.
Grandchildren, Ashley Barrera, Alysa Barrera, Jaime Diego Martinez Jr., Andrew Martinez and Nicolas Martinez.
Sisters, Elena Parra and Lamar Aguilar.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 departing from the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Holy Mass was celebrated at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services and interment  followed at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

PALLBEARERS WERE: Jaime Martinez, Andrew Martinez, Nicholas Martinez, Joe Dovalina, Aucencio Lopez Jr., Joel Luna, Guillermo Barrera and Alonzo Vasquez.
