ROSA MARIA CURIEL

With hearts filled with love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Rosa Maria Curiel, who entered into eternal rest on June 24, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born on March 31, 1938, in Laredo, Texas, Rosa Maria was the beloved daughter of Arnulfo and Delfina Cisneros. She was a proud graduate of Martin High School, Class of 1958, and carried throughout her life the values of hard work, faith, devotion, and love for family.

Rosa Maria shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, David Curiel Jr. Together, they built a loving home centered on family, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to one another.

Throughout her career, Rosa Maria was known for her diligence, kindness, and professionalism. She worked as a cashier at Ramirez Grocery Store, later at Howard Wolf, and eventually served as Office Manager and Human Resources for the Texas Hat Company, where she was respected for her strong work ethic and caring spirit.

Those who knew Rosa Maria will remember her for her warm smile, gentle heart, and generous spirit. She had a remarkable green thumb and found great joy in gardening, creating beauty wherever she lived. She also loved to travel, embracing opportunities to experience different cultures, historic places, and unforgettable moments around the world.

Among her favorite destinations was Rome, Italy, where she fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting Vatican City, St. Peter's Basilica, and the Roman Colosseum. She also treasured her time in Athens, Greece, and Vienna, Austria, where another lifelong dream came true as she attended a performance of Verdi's Il Traviata featuring the legendary Placido Domingo. Closer to home, Rosa Maria found great peace and happiness during the many vacations she enjoyed throughout the beautiful Hawaiian Islands, whose breathtaking scenery held a special place in her heart.

Above all else, Rosa Maria treasured her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Curiel Jr.; her eldest son, David Curiel III; and her son-in-law, Roberto Reyna.

She is lovingly survived by her children; Sara Alicia (Mike) Hinojosa, Rosalinda Curiel, Gloria (Delton) Cravey; Rachel Reyna; and Xavier Curiel (Patricia Placencia). She also leaves behind 16 cherished grandchildren and 11 beloved great-grandchildren.

Rosa Maria is also survived by her siblings †Consuelo Cisneros; †Arnulfo (†Diana) Cisneros of Beaver Pennsylvania; Alicia (Genaro) Vela; Edmundo (Debbie) Cisneros of Beaver Pennsylvania and Rosario (Eduardo) Vega.

Whether tending to her garden, exploring a new corner of the world, or simply gathering with her family, Rosa Maria found joy in life's simple and extraordinary moments alike. Nothing , however, brought her greater happiness than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were the greatest treasures of her life, and the memories she created with them will be cherished for generations to come.

Her life was one of quiet strength , faithful love, and selfless service. Though her family grieves her absence the rejoice in the legacy she leaves behind - a legacy rooted in love, faith, hard work, and devotion to those she held dear.

Rosa Maria's memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapel, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave. A Rosary will be officiated at 7:00 p.m. by Rev. Deacon Fuentes in the funeral home chapel. Funeral Services will begin on Friday, July 3, 2026 departing in procession at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at San Francisco Javier Catholic Church. Committal Services and interment will be held at a later date.
