RUBEN HERRERA

Ruben Herrera, 60, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved brother, Ruben Herrera, has gained his wings with the Lord. Surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Herrera was born in Chicago, Ill. and was a long life resident of Laredo, Texas.

Ruben graduated from Martin High School, Class of 1984 and was a football player. He was a very outgoing person who loved football (Kansas City Chiefs) and Tejano Conjunto music. Music was the love of his life. Ruben worked for the Laredo Independent School District, Mercy Hospital, Rolis Music Hall and worked alongside his father, Humberto Herrera as a DJ for Mr. H. Sound System. He worked as a Jailer for the Webb County Sheriffs Department for over 20 years.

The Family would like to thank Laredo Medical Center Wound Care, Hope Kidney Care Clinic, Morning Glory Provider Services and Texas Ambulance Response Team for all the care and years of service to our brother.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a vigil of the deceased, officiated by Rev. Deacon Ray Guevara, will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Committal services will be held on a later date.
