SANDRA GAMEZ
Sandra Gámez, born on February 14, 1966, in Laredo, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024. Sandra was a beloved mother, sister, and educator whose life was defined by her dedication to her family and her passion for education.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Irma Gámez and Jose C. Gámez Sr., as well as her siblings, Jose Gámez Jr. and Diana Hernandez.
She is survived by her two children, Lisa Kristina Gámez and Oscar Mario Rodríguez III, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her siblings Juan Gámez, Raul Gámez (Patricia), and Elizabeth G. Henry, along with her cherished fur baby Lillie Anne and fur grandbaby Mason.
Sandra's commitment to education was unparalleled. As a single mother, she earned a Master's degree in Education with a perfect 4.0 GPA—a testament to her determination and resilience. She dedicated 26 years of service to the Laredo Independent School District, where she touched countless lives as an educator. Her exceptional contributions were recognized with numerous awards, including honors from Senator Judith Zaffirini and Congressman Henry Cuéllar.
She then went on to work with the Webb County Sheriff's Department at Safe Haven where she truly found her calling. Although she did not work there very long, it was where she was meant to be. She made countless friends and colleagues and continued to touch the lives of many. It was where she knew she needed to be all along.
Sandra's legacy extends beyond her professional achievements. She instilled invaluable life lessons in her children and brought joy to all who knew her through her kindness and unwavering support. Her family will forever cherish the memories of laughter and love she shared with them.
Sandra's impact on her students, colleagues, and loved ones will not be forgotten. May her memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 departing from the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave . Holy Mass was celebrated at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment followed at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
PALLBEARERS WERE: Oscar Rodriguez, Raul Gamez, Victor Salinas, Jose Cardenas, Ricardo Montiel, Robert Elizondo and Joseph Rodriguez.
