Age 92
Tomás Benavides Jr. was born in Brownsville, Texas and was a life long resident of Laredo, Texas. Tomás Benavides Jr.'s early life was spent on his family's ranch, where he learned the values of hard work and humility.
He married the love of his life, Rocío Durán Benavides on June 29, 1966 and within their 53 years together, they built and leave behind a big, charismatic, and beautiful family.
Tomas Benavides had a passion for art, gardening and staying active. Whether tending to his yard, lending a hand to a neighbor, or just simply picking up the phone to check in on his family, he lived each day with strength and gratitude.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rocío Benavides, his parents, Tomás and Angelica Benavides Solís Sr. and his siblings: Alfonso, Oscar, Benjamin, Gaston, Ruben, Gustavo and his sisters Refugia, Lydia, Olga, Blanca, and Angelica.
He is survived by:
• His brother: Gustavo Benavides Solis
• His children: Ignacio Marco Antonio Benavides , Cesar Mauricio (Alma Yolanda †) Benavides, Claudina Benavides, Hector Fabian (Evelyn) Benavides, and Francisco Tovar
• His grandchildren: Ibbys Benavides, Cassandra (Ramiro) Galindo, Cesar Mauricio (Veronica) Benavides Jr. , Michael (Gabriela) Diaz, Bryan Benavides, Thomas Diaz, Paulina Benavides, Clarissa Diaz, Paloma Perez. Ysatis Hart-Gonzalez, Kostas Benavides, Cristina, Cynthia, and Cesar Tovar
• Great-grandchildren: Adam and Helene Galindo, Mauricio Nicolas Benavides, Katalina and Makayla Diaz, Ximena Benavides, and two more beloved babies on the way.
As well as many other relatives and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave . A Liturgy of the Word will be officiated by Rev. Deacon Hector D. Hernandez in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m. Committal services will be held on a later date.
