VERONICA PRIETO DE RAMIREZ
Veronica Prieto de Ramirez, 72, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.
Mrs. Ramirez was born in Mexico City, Mexico and was a lifelong resident of Laredo, Texas. She was a compassionate soul, loving wife, incredible mother, and soon to be grandmother. She made every day a celebration of love and laughter for those that knew her. Veronica's life mission has been to rescue, nurture and find homes for stray cats in the Laredo area. Her family and friends will continue contributions to these causes, in her honor. Mrs. Ramirez was passionate about her involvement as a board member of the Gateway Gatos, a charitable organization benefitting Laredo Animals in need. She was also a strong supporter of Best Friends for Life, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of cats in the Laredo area. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Oscar Ramirez Jr., with whom she was best friends for 45 years, and happily married to for 39 years.
Daughter, Rebecca Teresa Ramirez, who cherishes every song they ever sang together.
Son-in-Law, Ryan Louay Sharif, who was Veronica's novella and soccer watching partner.
Also surviving her are other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the
Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave
. Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapels at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Laredo City Cemetery.
