VICENTE MELENDEZ JR. Vicente Melendez Jr., 76, went peacefully to see the Lord on Friday, September 2, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Melendez was born in Orange Grove, Texas but had been a lifelong resident of Laredo. He was preceded in death by his parents Vicente and Librada Melendez, by his wife Amelia Melendez, and by his son Juan Manuel Melendez. He is survived by his five children: Maria Elena Rodriguez ,Estela Mata, Alma Rosa Melendez, Alfredo Melendez and Jesus Melendez. His 21 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. His brothers Pablo (Georgina) Melendez and Juan (Minerva) Melendez. Also surviving him are nieces, nephews, numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 5, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin Tuesday morning , September 6, 2011 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery .
