VICTOR CORTEZ SR. Victor Cortez Sr., 62, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at his local residence. Mr. Cortez was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a life long resident. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Julia Cortez. He is survived by his children, Esmeralda (Daniel) Benavides, Victor (Mari) Cortez Jr. and Lizette (Juan Munoz) Cortez. Grandchildren, Danielle Alexa Benavides, Kristen Aimee Benavides, Bobbie Cortez, Chelsy Cortez, Maximus Cortez and Ramon Ernesto Martinez Jr. Mother of his children, Maria Del Socorro Cortez. Brothers, Juan (Elenita) Cortez and Pedro (Josefina) Cortez. Sisters, Lucina Cortez and Teresa Cortez. Also numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2012 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Laredo City Cemetery.
