Vidal Rodriguez Sr., 92, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025.
Mr. Rodriguez was born in Laredo, Texas and was a long life resident. He worked for the Maintenance Department at TXDOT for over 31 years and was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus member at Council 1504. He was also an active member of the "Guadalupanos" at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He will be dearly missed.
He loved the outdoors, especially with his sons. He guided his sons on the love for hunting. Additionally, he had a passion for carpentry utilizing his skills in support of others and guiding his sons on major projects. He taught his sons knowledge on building houses from the ground up, all by hands on experience. A valued knowledge his sons utilize day to day.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anita Cavazos Rodriguez, sister, Amelia Rodriguez and parents Ernesto and Maria Mora Rodriguez.
He is survived by his sons, Carlos Gerardo Rodriguez, Vidal (Miriam) Rodriguez Jr. and Ricardo Rodriguez.
Granddaughters, Brianna Rodriguez and Selena Anissa Rodriguez.
Also surviving him are numerous cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a vigil of the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
