VIRGILIO GONZALEZ JR.

Virgilio Gonzalez Jr., 73, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas.

Mr. Gonzalez was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and had been a long life resident of Laredo, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Virgilio Gonzalez and Ana Lydia Gonzalez. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was inducted in June, 1964 and released from active duty in 1966, when he was transferred to the Naval Reserve. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Gonzalez will be dearly missed by his friends and his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 49 years of marriage, Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez.

Daughters, Ana Elisa Gonzalez, Veronica (Juan F.) Vasquez, Maribel (Primo) Castilla, Monica (Eduardo) Arizola and Velma (Antonio) Colecio.

10 grandchildren.

Brothers, Rolando (Linda) Gonzalez, Jose (Juanita) Gonzalez, Carmelo (Selma) Gonzalez, Jaime (Chelli) Gonzalez and Ray Gonzalez.

Sisters, Thelma (Ruben) Tenorio, Cecilia G. Bolado and Ana Maria G. Rivera.

Also surviving him are other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, September 3, 2018. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Committal services and interment with full military honors will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
