Obituary

DANIEL GUEVARA
Daniel Guevara, beloved husband, beloved father, beloved grandfather, died unexpectedly, April 4, 2016.
Danny was the son of Samuel Guevara and Consuelo Treviño. He was born in Laredo, Texas on February 23, 1944.
Danny was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy, St. Mary's University, and the University of Michigan.
He married Agnes Cecilia Ramon on August 20, 1966 and then entered basic training. He was a sergeant in the Air Force attached to the medical corps at the Laredo Air Force Base.
After basic training, he began his career with the Sisters of Mercy in the medical lab. He remained with the Sisters of Mercy for over 40 years before retiring in 2006 as CEO of Mercy Ministries. As a continuation of his life of service to his community, he served in Junior Achievement and was a member of St. Patrick's Parish Council and the parish Men's Club, as well as being very involved in his beloved Rotary. Later, in his retirement, he also served as a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Texas State Bar Association.
He is survived by his grieving wife of 49 years 8 months; Agnes Cecilia, his children Margarita (Scott) Cecilia Guevara Schroeder, Lucia Consuelo Guevara, and Monica Ines Guevara, as well as his grandchildren, who were the pride of his life, Daniel Joseph Schroeder and Cecilia Catherine Schroeder. He is survived by his brother, Arturo (Rebecca) Guevara, and his sisters, Consuelo (Gerardo) Salazar and Maria del Carmen (Rafael) Flores. He is also survived by numerous close nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and looked up to him. They are: Rafael Flores Jr.,Ricardo Flores, Cristina Flores Buchanan, Flores Pedrosa, Celina Guevara, Andrea Guevara, Olga Salazar Mendiola, Agustin Salazar, Ana Georgina Tisdale, Isabel del Carmen Montenegro, Jorge Rodolfo Ramon, Olga Cecilia Guajardo and Hector Daniel Ramon. He had many grandnieces and nephews as well.
Family was the heart of his life and they will miss his love, guidance, and example dearly.
Although flowers are beautiful, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Mercy Ministries of Laredo, 2500 Zacatecas St. Laredo, Texas 78046 (956) 718-6810.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, a Vigil of the Deceased will then follow at 9:30 a.m. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Committal services and interment will immediately follow the service in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Funeral services are under the direction of the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.
